Healthcare laundry can't wait. Neither should your engineer.

When laundry equipment breaks down on a healthcare site, infection control stops being theoretical. We service, repair and maintain commercial laundry equipment for NHS trusts, GP practices and healthcare sites across the East Midlands — and we document everything your inspectors need to see.

The stakes in a healthcare setting

Healthcare laundry isn't just an operational task — it's a clinical one. Used linen from patient areas is a category of clinical risk. It needs to be handled, washed and stored in a way that prevents cross-contamination, and the equipment doing the washing needs to be proven to reach the temperatures that thermal disinfection requires.

A machine that looks like it's working may not be meeting the standard.Heating elements scale up over time. Sensors drift. A machine running a 60°C cycle may not be sustaining that temperature under load for the duration HTM 01-04 requires. Without a calibrated temperature check during a real cycle, you don't actually know.

Our work for healthcare sites covers planned service contracts that keep equipment running, emergency callouts when something breaks, and compliance verification — using a calibrated thermometer during a live cycle to confirm your machines are meeting the thermal disinfection standard.

What we do for healthcare sites

Planned Service Contracts

  • Annual or twice-yearly preventative maintenance

  • Calibrated temperature verification to HTM 01-04

  • Heating element descaling and sensor calibration

  • Priority callout response within the contract

  • Service records suitable for CQC inspection and internal clinical governance audits

When Things Break

  • Emergency callouts and scheduled repair

  • Gas safety inspections on gas-fired equipment (Gas Safe Registered)

  • WRAS-compliant water connection checks

  • Replacement equipment supply and installation when a machine reaches end of life

  • Removal and safe disposal of old equipment

HTM 01-04 in a healthcare context

What the standard requires

HTM 01-04 is the NHS guidance that sets out the requirements for laundry in healthcare settings. It specifies thermal disinfection at71°C for not less than 3 minutes, or65°C for 10 minutes, along with physical separation of clean and dirty linen, and a documented audit trail.

Our service visits include a calibrated temperature check during a full wash cycle so you have documented proof the machine is meeting the standard — not just an assumption based on the dial setting.

That documentation sits in your laundry records and gives your infection control lead and your inspectors a clear evidence base when they ask how you're meeting the guidance.
